I didn't set out to become a hair loss specialist. I set out to become a hairdresser.

From a young age, I always knew I wanted to do hair. School wasn't really where I found my confidence or my place, but when I discovered hairdressing, something clicked. I left school at 16, followed the career I knew I wanted, and by the time I was 20 I had opened my own salon.

Nearly 30 years later, my love for hair has taken me somewhere I never expected — hair loss. And for me, this isn't simply about hair. It's about how a woman feels when she looks in the mirror.

It's about the woman who stops having photographs taken. The woman who doesn't want to go out without covering her head. The woman who has tried products, treatments and hair pieces that haven't made her feel like herself. The woman who quietly tells me, "I just want to feel normal again."

I understand how much hair can be connected to identity, femininity and confidence. My own family's experience with cancer — and seeing the impact that hair loss and poorly fitting wigs can have on someone close to you — made me realise there was so much more I wanted to do.

I wanted women to have somewhere they could come and feel listened to, never judged and never rushed. Somewhere they could talk openly about their hair loss. Somewhere they could try a solution without feeling embarrassed. And most importantly, somewhere they could find something that made them look in the mirror and think: "That's me again."

That's why I put so much care into every topper, every integration and every fitting. I don't believe in simply putting a piece of hair on someone's head and sending them home. I want to understand you — your lifestyle, your hair, your worries, your confidence and what you want to achieve. And my support doesn't stop when you leave the salon.

I've been incredibly fortunate to receive recognition and awards for the work I do, but if I'm completely honest, those aren't the moments that stay with me. It's the tears. The smiles. The hugs. The messages afterwards saying, "I feel like me again." That's why I do this.

I'm Katrina — a hairdresser from Lurgan who followed a dream at 16, built a career from something she loved, and eventually found a new purpose in helping women through hair loss. That's something I feel incredibly proud to do.
